Saturday, June 28, The Marshall Family (Griffin, Queensland)
Mattie Lane provides today’s update as we continue to minister/spend time with the Marshall Family. Well, today was a day full of sunshine, surprises, and service. We started the day off early with a nice time of devotion to prep our hearts for prep day. First, we met Pastor Joe Marshall to go letterboxing for New Beginnings Baptist Church. It was one of those small blessings from God that you don’t really notice at first. It provided an opportunity to serve while still allowing our team a simple refresh by way of a quiet (although I can’t speak for everyone) walk in beautiful weather.
Next, was lunch at the Marshall’s home, my compliments to the chef, Melissa Marshall. While at the Marshall home, we prepped for Pursue Youth Camp which will begin next week. We practiced music, folded devotional booklets, created decorations, and prepped many types of games (color wars, escape room, stay tuned for more details on these). We ended off this time with a special surprise for the Marshall family, a “Christmas in July” of sorts. My personal favorite was Kaitlyn Marshall’s reaction to receiving PCC merch, she’s EXTREMELY excited to attend in August.
Finally, we enjoyed some lovely Australian pork, lamb, and, the unexpected favourite, pumpkin soup accompanied by stories about all the many… unique… creatures we may encounter throughout this next month.
And now we head to bed, stomachs full of food and heads full of fear, and yet, exceedingly excited for the week ahead.
