Saturday, July 12, Graceway Baptist Church (Footscray, VIC)/Melbourne

Kelina brings us our Saturday update! This morning the guys (Andrew, Alex, Josh, and Dr. Cirone) went to a Men’s Prayer Brekkie/Bible Study meeting at 7:30 am at Calvary Baptist Church. Andrew brought the devotional message about Jonah about being sensitive to the Lord’s calling. Alex said his favorite part of his message was “God used Jonah despite of Jonah.” Many times we say we want to serve the Lord but do not want to go out and serve in far away places where it is needed most–wherever God is telling you to go despite how far away it is, despite how different it is from what you are used to, GO anyway. As Christians, our job is to spread the gospel across the world. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

The team arrived at Josh and Ira Zacharias’ home around 11:00 am. The team put together John & Romans along with putting invitations inside of them inviting people to their new church that will be opening in 2 weeks. After we finished, we spilt up into groups to go letterboxing. After letterboxing around 1:00 pm, we had a quick to-go lunch–good ‘ole burgers made by Ira! (so delicious by the way) and then headed to the Queen Victoria Market to buy some souvenirs. We spent about two hours at the market and then headed to Melbourne Central were we shopped and ate dinner. We then got on the tram to head to a footy game, Tigers versus the Bombers with the Zacharias’ and a few others from several churches (btw, Dr. Cirone was able to get 25 free tickets!) During the game a bird “dropped in” with some “droppings” to welcome Alex to Melbourne and especially to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground)–he was not to happy about that, but the game must go on! After the game, we went back to the van and rode back to our hotel. Praying for a great day tomorrow as we minister at Calvary Baptist church (Pastor Manny Mallari) and at Graceway Baptist Church (Pastor Josh Zacharias). Catch ya later, mates!
